Claire Barton comes to the Bay Area Climate Collaborative with a strong background in event coordination, marketing, and public relations. She has led comprehensive campaigns to increase visibility and strengthen reputations for business leaders both nationally and internationally.

As a Program Associate with the BACC, Claire leads outreach and partnership development with Bay Area companies, local governments and communities onĀ SunShares, a first-of-its-kind residential solar group-buy model developed by the City of San Jose as part of the Department of Energy's Solar America Cities initiative. Utilizing the model, San Jose city employees were able to negotiate solar for over 40 percent off average market rates. Additionally, Claire manages event coordination and communications for the Collaborative, including Project Green Home, a zero-net energy open house event educating the community on next-generation green building and drawing over 350 attendees, and Sustainable Cities, an event and award-winning video program on strategies to advance sustainability and improve budgets.

Prior to the BACC, Claire was an Energy Policy and Programs Coordinator for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. In this role, she was responsible for legislative research and outreach to local government and business leaders, as well as event management, working closely with members of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group team to raise awareness for and coordinate their annual Sustainability Symposium and Energy Summit events. Previously, Claire was an Account Manager at Nadel Phelan, Inc., a public relations firm focused on the high tech industry, where she was responsible for implementing and optimizing in-depth public relations campaigns and managing day-to-day client relationships.

Claire graduated from San Jose State, summa cum laude, with a BS in Business Administration, Marketing. She is a lifelong Bay Area resident, and is dedicated to advancing the clean energy economy in every aspect of her life.
