With a strong background in public relations, event coordination, and marketing, Claire Barton has led comprehensive campaigns to increase visibility and strengthen reputations for business leaders both nationally and internationally.
As Program Manager with the BACC, Claire manages the $5 million Local Government EV Fleet National Demonstration Project which, in the largest collective municipal battery-electric vehicle fleet deployment in the nation, is deploying 90 electric vehicles and associated infrastructure to 11 municipal agencies throughout the Bay Area. The Project will demonstrate operating cost benefits, reduce emissions and catalyze EV adoption regionally and nationally through a major visibility campaign and best-practices outreach. Claire also delivers relationship building support for the Bay Area Next Generation Streetlight Initiative, catalyzing the upgrade of 200,000 regional streetlights to advanced LED technology to save municipalities $50 million and avoid 100,000 tons of greenhouse gases over 5 years. Additionally, she leads business development and fundraising activities for the Collaborative.
Prior to the BACC, Claire was an Energy Policy and Programs Coordinator for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. In this role, she was responsible for legislative research and outreach to local government and business leaders as well as event management, working closely with members of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group team to raise awareness for and coordinate their annual Sustainability Symposium and Energy Summit events. Previously, Claire was an Account Manager at Nadel Phelan, Inc., a public relations firm focused on the high tech industry, where she was responsible for implementing and optimizing in-depth public relations campaigns and managing day-to-day client relationships.
Claire graduated from San Jose State, summa cum laude, with a BS in Business Administration, Marketing. She is a lifelong Bay Area resident, loves to volunteer at her local state park, and enjoys consuming (if not preparing) good food.
