Bishop Ranch Unveils East Bay’s First Fast-Charging EV Hub
Bishop Ranch business park in San Ramon recently unveiled the East Bay’s first fast-charging electric vehicle (EV) hub. Produced by ECOtality, the hub can fully charge four vehicles—two at Level Three voltage for newer models such as the Nissan Leaf, and two at Level Two voltage for older models that are not compatible with the Level Three adapter—in less than 20 minutes each. The park already drives a praiseworthy transportation program that keeps approximately 10,000 cars off the road every day and helps save 15 million gallons of gas annually. Initiatives under the program include free shuttle connections to BART and free County Connection bus passes, among other amenities. Business Ranch executives hope that this new addition of an EV fast-charging hub will not only encourage more workers to use alternative modes of transportation, but that it will also serve as a regional model of workplace sustainability for businesses and developers. Chief revenue officer of ECOtality comments:
“Workplace charging is quickly becoming one of the most important location for EV drivers to charge while away from home. Bishop Ranch is a perfect host site in terms of location, and it is great to see large office campuses joining the EV Project and enabling greater driving freedom for EV drivers in the Bay Area."
