Hack The Sun: Solar App Competition Held at Sungevity
The first Solar Hackathon was held recently at the bayside headquarters of Sungevity, an Oakland-based solar installer. The Solar Hackathon asked 10 teams to tackle 10 suggested tasks, from creating a smartphone camera app to evaluate a home’s solar potential to one that shows all homes with solar panels within a certain radius. The winner for best overall app was Team Sunride, which developed an app for car dealers that estimates the cost and savings from packaging the purchase of an electric vehicle with a home solar array.
