SMUD - Two Million Dollar Grant Awarded to Develop PV-Integrated Storage Solutions

Utility scale renewable energy company Satcon Technology Corporation, lithium manufacturer A123 Systems, solar company Renewable Energy Services, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District have been awarded two million dollars by the California Energy Commission to work on the development of storage technologies to reduce renewable energy power intermittency. According to Satcon, the grant has been awarded under the Energy Commission’s wider initiative – the Public Interest Energy Research Renewable Program – aimed at developing solutions to facilitate increased penetration of renewable energies into the energy grid.
