Work More Than Halfway Done on Most Powerful Solar Project in Marin
Installation of some 4,000 solar panels atop hangars at the San Rafael Airport — the largest solar project of its kind in Marin — is expected to be finished by the end of September. At that point the $3 million Marin Energy Authority project will begin feeding power into the energy grid as part of a deal with the airport. When complete, the project will provide 972 kilowatts at any given time, enough energy to power 280 homes for an entire year and up to 1,200 customers during peak energy production. It will offset about 750 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually. Read more here.
